LA PRIMERA EXPOSICIÓ MONOGRÀFICA DE L'ARTISTA JULIA MARISCAL
A BARCELONA.
A la pràctica de Mariscal abunden les referències al plec i al reflex. La figura del plec, que l’artista aplica
tant a superfícies tèxtils ("Fuga", "Oscillations") com a treballs en paper o en vidre ("Untitled", "Leche"),
s’utilitza com a dispositiu per estudiar la tensió entre cos i matèria i la idea de constant “evolució”
d’aquests elements. L’interès de Mariscal se centra en la investigació formal a través dels materials,
i en la performativitat desplegada a l’hora de treballar-los. Per això les obres es reorganitzen com una
constel·lació on certs elements formals i simbòlics es repeteixen en diverses peces, suggerint la figura
de l’espiral.
Pendulum ofereix una porta d’accés a aquesta pràctica, profundament arrelada a la mitologia del present.
Les constants referències a la llum, la matèria o la presència evidencien la fascinació de Mariscal
pels temes relacionats amb la cosmologia: l’origen i el desenvolupament de l’univers
i tots els seus elements.
La peça "Oscillations" (2011-2012) serà activada durant la inauguració de l’exposició
en una performance realitzada juntament amb el músic Simon Williams. Es tracta d’un objecte
performàtic, construït en col·laboració amb Ricard Solà, que genera sons gràcies a uns fotosensors
que responen a una imatge de l’esquena de Mariscal i a les condicions ambientals de la sala,
subratllant la importància del “ara” en el desenvolupament de l’acció. L’esquena de l’artista
es converteix en una mena de mapa que guia al músic, fent al·lusió a les rutes de navegació seguides
pels exploradors al llarg de la història.

FRANCO DE TOLEDO ART PROJECTSSE COMPLACE EN PRESENTAR PENDULUM,
LA PRIMERA EXPOSICIÓN MONOGRÁFICA DE LA ARTISTA JULIA MARISCAL
EN BARCELONA .
Las seis piezas que la componen exploran los temas de nomadismo, frontera y mutabilidad
a través del collage, la performance y la video-instalación. Mariscal aborda estos intereses a través
de una experimentación material basada en la superposición de diversas texturas y superficies,
creando un nuevo léxico de simbolismos.
En la práctica de Mariscal abundan las referencias al pliegue y al reflejo. La figura del pliegue,
que la artista aplica tanto a superficies textiles ("Fuga", "Oscillations") como a trabajos en papel
o en cristal ("Untitled", "Leche"), se utiliza como dispositivo para estudiar la tensión entre cuerpo y materia
y la idea del constante “devenir” de estos elementos. El interés de Mariscal se centra en la investigación
formal a través de los materiales, y en la performatividad desplegada a la hora de trabajarlos.
Por eso las obras se reorganizan como una constelación donde ciertos elementos formales y simbólicos
se repiten en varias piezas, sugiriendo la figura de la espiral.
Pendulum ofrece una puerta de acceso a esta práctica, profundamente enraizada en la mitología
del presente. Las constantes referencias a la luz, la materia y la presencia evidencian la fascinación
de Mariscal por los temas relacionados con la cosmología: el origen y el desarrollo del universo
y todos sus elementos.
La pieza "Oscillations" (2011-2012) será activada durante la inauguración de la exposición
en una performance realizada junto al músico Simon Williams. Se trata de un objeto performático,
construido en colaboración con Ricard Solà, que genera sonidos gracias a unos fotosensores
que responden a una imagen de la espalda de Mariscal y a las condiciones ambientales de la sala,
subrayando la importancia del “ahora” en el desarrollo de la acción. La espalda de la artista se convierte
en una especie de mapa que guía al músico, aludiendo a las rutas de navegación seguidas
por los exploradores a largo de la historia.

PENDULUM, THE FIRST MONOGRAPHIC EXHIBITION IN BARCELONA
BY THE ARTIST JULIA MARISCAL.
The six pieces which make up the exhibition explore themes of nomadism, frontiers and mutability
by way of collage, performance and video-installations. Mariscal engages with these themes through
experimentation with his materials based on the superimposition of diverse textures and surfaces,
creating a new lexicon of symbolisms. In Mariscal’s practice the references to folding and reflection
are abundant. The figure of the fold, which the artist applies as much to textile surfaces

Mariscal’s interest centres on the formal investigation by way of the materials and in the performability
which is revealed at the time of working with them. That’s why the works reorganize themselves
rather like a constellation where certain formal and symbolic elements repeat themselves
in various pieces, suggesting a spiral figure.
Pendulum offers a window into this practice which is profoundly rooted in the mythology
of the present. The constant references to light, material and presence, show clearly Mariscal’s fascination
with themes related to cosmology: the origin and development of the universe and all of its elements.
The piece "Oscillations" (2011-2012) will be activated during the opening of the exhibition
in a performance realized in conjunction with the musician Simon Williams.
It consists of a performatic object, constructed in collaboration with Ricard Solà, which generates
sounds thanks to some photo-sensors, which respond to an image of Mariscal’s back
and to the environmental conditions of the space, underlining the importance of “now” in how
the action works itself out. The artist’s back transforms itself into a sort of map which
guides the musician, hinting at the navigational routes followed by great explorers throughout history.

L'EXPOSICIÓ TRANS FASHION LAB.
TRANS FASHION LAB és una exposició multi-disciplinar que planteja reflexions diferents al voltant
del cos en el context de la nostra societat de consum.
Les obres proposades pels artistes, aprofundeixen en la identitat de l'ésser humà, prenent com a punt
de partida l'exterior del cos per tal descobrir qüestions internes, amb la finalitat de donar intenció
a preocupacions aparentment supèrflues, que tindrien lectures i jerarquies molt diferents depenent
de cada context cultural. Com ara: nocions de gènere, socioculturals i econòmiques.
L'exposició TRANS FASHION LAB i comptarà amb artistes com:

La imatge de TRANS FASHION LAB ha estat extreta del vídeo-document de la desfilada-acció
que Roberto Piqueras va convocar al British Museum de Londres el setembre de 2012.
Roberto Piqueras s'apropia de l'espai públic, utilitzant com a fons i suport l'arquitectura pròpia del Museu,
creant d'aquesta manera un sniggling, (fórmula performativa que utilitza l'engany a l'espectador,
ja que inicialment no se n'adona del que està passant).
En contraposició a l'àmbit institucional o “temple de l'art” que efimerament és desarticulat,
amb el passeig dels seus models i d'ell mateix com a protagonista, vestits amb els dissenys,
ens planteja al mateix temps algunes preguntes com: on s'ha de situar la moda?, a qui pertany la institució
o l'espai públic?
Roberto, utilitza estampats que focalitza sobre l'estructura del cos i cita elements en apariència simples,
però que es contraposen i anul·len entre si, com ara: flors exuberants (natura) contraposades a cadenes
que re-segueixen el cos (estereotips estètics que condicionen a l'ésser humà),
el conjunt de la seva proposta va a la recerca de l'individu i intenta escapar a tota uniformitat.
Al mateix temps que trenca amb els arcaics ideals de bellesa.
Un jove al·legat a la diversitat i a la llibertat.

LA EXPOSICIÓN TRANS FASHION LAB.
TRANS FASHION LAB es una exposición multidisciplinar que plantea diferentes reflexiones en torno
al cuerpo, en el contexto de nuestra sociedad de consumo.
Las obras planteadas por los artistas, ahondan en la identidad del ser humano, partiendo desde
el exterior del cuerpo para develar cuestiones internas, con el fin de dar intención a preocupaciones
en apariencia superfluas, las cuales según cada cultura tendrían lecturas y jerarquías muy dispares,
como podrían ser: nociones de género, socio-culturales y económicas.
La exposición TRANS FASHION LAB contará con artistas como:

Roberto Piqueras, se apropia del espacio público, utilizando como fondo y soporte la arquitectura

En contraposición al ámbito institucional o “templo del arte”, el cual es desarticulado de manera efímera,
con el paseo de sus modelos y de él mismo como protagonista, ataviados con sus diseños,
nos plantea de paso algunas interrogantes como: donde debe estar situada la moda?, a quien pertenece
la institución y espacio público?
Roberto, utiliza estampados que focaliza en la estructura del cuerpo y cita elementos
de apariencia simples, pero que se contraponen y se anulan entre si, como: exuberantes flores,
(naturaleza) v/s cadenas que recorren el cuerpo (estereotipos estéticos que condicionan al ser humano),
el conjunto de su propuesta va en busca del individuo e intenta escapar a toda uniformidad,
y a su vez, rompe con arcaicos ideales de belleza.
En definitiva, un canto joven a la diversidad y libertad.

TRANS FASHION LAB is a multidisciplinary exhibition which proposes different reflections
about the body, in the context of the consumer society in which we live.
The works proposed by the artists explore the identity of human beings, starting from the exterior
of the body to reveal internal questions, with the aim of giving meaning to apparently superficial
preoccupations, which, depending on the culture, give very disparate readings and hierarchies,
as for example: ideas of gender, socio-cultural and economic ideas.

The cover image of TRANS FASHION LAB has been extracted from the video-document
of the fashion-show action which Robert Piqueras organized in London’s British Museum
in September 2012.
It takes over public space, using as a background and support, the architecture of the museum itself,
thus creating a “sniggling” (a performance formula which uses deception of the spectator,
as at the beginning he/she isn’t aware what is happening).
Counterpointing the institutional ambit or “the temple of art”, disarticulated in an ephemeral manner,
with the parade of his models and of he, himself as the main character, dressed in his designs,
presents us with some questions like: where should fashion be placed?,
who owns the institution
and public spaces?
Roberto uses prints that focus on the structure of the body and quotes elements of simple appearance,
but which counterpoint and contradict among themselves like: exuberant flowers (nature)
versus chains that cling to the body (aesthetic stereotypes which condition human beings),
the overall impression of his proposal is searching out the individuality of the person and tries
to escape from total conformity, and at the same time, breaks with archaic ideals of beauty.

This aesthetic exercise, dreamlike and reconstructive, serves her as a silent scream, which points
out nature as the only path to salvation.

Amb un títol que fa referència, tant al procés de treball general de totes les peces que composen aquesta
exposició com a la inevitable degradació de la matèria orgànica, l’artista Jesús Monteagudo Guerra presenta
un conjunt d’obres on la pràctica artística serveix com a estratègia estètica per tal de dur a terme una infiltració
codificada d’allò privat en l’àmbit d’allò públic.
Mitjançant la reapropiació del concepte de bandera, ‘My territory’ construeix una reelaboració literal de la insígnia
nacional per excel·lència, convertint diferents icones de representació territorial nacional en emblemes
de diversos vincles sentimentals marcats per la distància geogràfica.
La tècnica del brodat i una escala cromàtica
pròpia aconsegueixen que la invocació multitudinària de tota bandera desaparegui, deixant pas
a una geografia
personal en l’anonimat.
El component geogràfic, aquesta vegada urbà, apareix també a ’Montjuïc-Zona Universitària’, una escultura
amb la qual l’artista recull, protegeix i conserva les restes d’esporàdiques trobades personals a l’espai públic,
ara empremtes en descomposició d’un desig conclòs.
’Cam4 screenshots’ és una sèrie de collages que se serveixen de la pornografia amateur online a l’hora de
composar, per capes, diversos escenaris on el protagonisme recau sobre l’estatisme de l’espai domèstic
i no sobre l’acció sexual.
Recreant una situació infantil en etapa adulta, ‘Courtship’ ens mostra per ocultació una activitat que funciona
com a ritual de seducció, però també com a combat lúdic.

THE SOLO EXHIBITION OF THE ARTIST JESÚS MONTEAGUDO GUERRA.

With a title that refers as much to the general work process of the pieces that make up
this exhibition as to the inevitable degradation of organic matter, the artist Jesús Monteagudo Guerra
presents a group of works in which artistic practice serves as an aesthetic strategy to achieve
a codified infiltration of that which is private within the public sphere.
Through the re-appropriation of the concept of the flag, ‘My territory’ constructs a literal re-elaboration
of the ultimate national insignia - transforming icons representing national territories, into emblems
with sentimental connections identified through geographical distance. The embroidery technique,
coupled with the artist’s own chromatic scale, have as a result that the invocation of multitudes
that all flags carry disappear, giving way to a personal geography in anonymity.
The geographical component, this time urban, also appears in ’Montjuïc-Zona Universitària’,
a sculpture with which the artist collects, protects and preserves the remains of sporadic personal
encounters in public spaces, now footprints in process of decomposition of a concluded desire.
’Cam4 screenshots’ is a series of collages that use amateur online pornography compose, by layers,
diverse scenes where the central issue is the inertia of the domestic spaces and not the sexual activity.
Recreating a childhood situation in adulthood, ‘Courtship’ shows us, in a hidden way, an action which
functions as a seduction ritual but also as a playful combat.

GAME OVER. RAMÓN GUIMARAES.

Esta exposición individual de RAMÓN GUIMARAÉS se compone de video,
fotografía, instalación y performances. La pluralidad en los soportes es su intención
y lo más adecuado para comunicar de forma certera en cada una de sus obras.
En esta ocasión pone en cuestión a una sociedad que al parecer retrocede en temas
que parecían ya asumidos, como son los derechos LGTB y sus libertades
democráticas alcanzadas hasta la fecha en España.
Sus obras señalan el momento actual, que podríamos denominar como
“salto al vacío”, tomando como referencia la obra de uno de los primeros
performers de la historia del arte YVES KLEIN.
GUIMARAÉS satiriza nuestra sociedad patriarcal-falocéntrica con este
“nuevo salto al vacío”. Salto o rescate, gesto del cual resultará inevitablemente
un vencedor.
La fragilidad en “lo material” es en la actualidad un hecho incuestionable
en todos los sectores, es posible que este tiempo precario sea una oportunidad
para ver al vencedor que tendrá que ser necesariamente un ganador moral
y no material.
La ambivalencia de sus personajes. Se resisten o se entregan a la caída?
Es el tiempo de aspirar como mucho a la salvación?
Quienes están detrás de la careta de: “la inocencia”,
“la moral y las buenas costumbres”?
Esta exposición pone en duda y cuestiona de forma lúdica y desenfadada
la falta de argumentos de un sistema muy mal planteado y lo hace
enfáticamente, con el título Game over.
FRANCO DE TOLEDO.
W: “Game Over” es un mensaje tradicional en los video juegos, que generalmente
señala que el juego ha terminado con resultado negativo, o lo que es lo mismo,
que el jugador no ha podido completar el juego. Fue utilizado en primer lugar
en las máquinas de pinball y, posteriormente, en juegos de arcade, desde entonces
ha sido adoptado ampliamente y ahora es comúnmente asociada con los video
juegos en general. Sin embargo, en los últimos años ha sido sustituido por mensajes
como “Has muerto/Estás muerto”, como se ha visto en Resident Evil; “Cazado”,
como se ve en la serie Grand Theft Auto, o el “¡Buenas noches!”
de Luigi’s Mansion.
“Game Over” no implica necesariamente un mal final, también puede aparecer
cuando el jugador acaba el juego o la partida. Por ejemplo, en Motocross
Maniacs los desarrolladores no implementaron ninguna pantalla de felicitación
para quienes superaran todas las pruebas, mostrando al final el mismo mensaje
de “Game Over”. En algunos juegos arcade se utiliza el “Game Over” no sólo
para indicar el final de juego sino también para decir que no se esta jugando
al juego. Sin embargo, en la mayoría de los casos el mensaje aparece cuando
el jugador ha agotado todas sus vidas, realizado incorrectamente una tarea
o simplemente no ha conseguido todos sus objetivos. En Saw (saga) se utiliza
la frase “Game over” para referirse a que están atrapados para siempre hasta
que se mueran.
This solo exhibition of RAMÓN GUIMARAES includes video, photography,
installations and performances. The plurality in the media is his intention and the
most appropriate way to communicate accurately in each of his works. This time
calls into question a society that seems to go backwards at issues that seemed
already undertaken, such as LGBT rights and democratic freedoms recently
achieved in Spain.
His works points to the present time, we could call 'leap into the void', with
reference to the work of one of the first performers of art history YVES KLEIN.
GUIMARAES satirizes phallocentric patriarchal society with this "new leap in
the void." Jump or rescue gesture from which inevitably would result a winner.
Frailty in "material" is now an irrefutable fact in all sectors. It is possible that this
precarious time becomes an opportunity to see the winner. Which has to be
necessarily a moral winner not material.

Who is behind the mask of "innocence", "morals and good customs"?
This exhibition doubts and questions in a fun and casual way the lack of
arguments of a very bad planed society and it does it emphatically, entitled
Game over.

W: "Game Over" is a traditional message in video games, which usually indicates
that the game has ended with negative results, or what is the same, that the player
could not complete the game. It was first used in pinball machines and later
arcade games, has since been widely adopted and is now commonly associated
with video games in general. However, in recent years has been replaced
by messages like "You died / You're dead", as seen in Resident Evil, "Hunted",
as seen in the Grand Theft Auto, or "Good night! "Luigi's Mansion.
"Game Over" is not necessarily a bad end, may also appear when the player
finishes the game. For example, Motocross Maniacs developers did not
implement any display card for those who overcome all tests, showing at the end
the same message "Game Over". In some arcade games using the "Game Over"
not only to indicate the end of the game but also to say that you are not playing
the game. However, in most cases the message is displayed when the player
has exhausted all their lives, a task performed incorrectly or simply he has not
